Transport of the future – A Young Engineer’s fresh insight

A hundred years from now, the world’s transport systems will have very different requirements than what we know today. What will those requirements be? That is a question our Smart Space intern team thought through as part of the BuroHappold global YEF competition, ‘Stations of the Future’, as we drew the outlines for the design of a train station in 2100.

Together with an infrastructure graduate, we speculated around the concept of ticket purchase, local and regional transportation, technical development and social aspects, and we used our skills in programming, modelling and editing to put together a video for our Phase 1 brief. After the jury had their say, we stand as one of five teams going through to Phase 2, putting together a proposal for a final design.

As a student placement in Smart Space, you get the opportunities to develop your skills in various areas, as well as to collaborate with different teams in exciting new projects. With an approach different from traditional engineering, you develop competences that give you an edge in the market and place you at the technical forefront of the industry.

We thank our team for all their support and look forward to developing our ideas further over the weeks to follow! Watch this space for updates.
